Big Rapids is home to our flagship Luckyspot recreational marijuana dispensary. It’s located at 120 S. Michigan Avenue Suite B on the 2nd Floor, in the heart of the downtown business district.
Big Rapids radiates warmth with its vintage brick buildings scattered throughout downtown, filled with shops, boutiques, restaurants and pubs. The city is compact, walkable and welcoming.
The Muskegon River runs through Big Rapids, and it has long been a focal point of the community with Riverwalk. It’s a 3.2-mile linear park and accessible trail that begins at Hemlock Park and features public art, playgrounds, sports fields, picnic areas and fishing spots.
Big Rapidians enjoy easy access to The Fred Meijer White Pine Trail State Park which is excellent for cycling or hiking in the warm months and snowmobiling in the winter. The 92-mile trail extends from Comstock Park near Grand Rapids to Cadillac and Big Rapids is the perfect stopping-off point. In addition, the 6500 acre Hungerford Recreation Area has horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, and skiing trails. There are campsites too. Look for the Hungerford Games trail races each September.
Big Rapids and Ferris State University are deeply connected. The city and the university have grown together and supported each other since the school’s founding in 1884. With its 14,000 students, Ferris is well-known for its football and ice hockey programs, and on the academic side, it’s where many Michigan pharmacists earned their degrees. The Michigan Board of Pharmacy accredited the pharmacy program in 1893. Also of interest is the University’s Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia, a one-of-a-kind collection inside the FLITE Library on the Ferris campus.
